Well for those of you that have followed me through the years (my mother excluded) I am back on the blogging map. It has been nearly three years since my last blog post. How can that be? Well, I have a 3 and 4 year old…you do the math on that one. I will very openly say that creatives should not run a business, alone that is. In the last 8 years I have tried my best to manage motherhood of 4 amazing kids and running this “our doors never close” type of business. A few years back I had to let the blog go. I had to give myself a reprieve on time in one thing regarding my business. I am so happy to announce that I am back and so is my sometimes misplaced sarcasm. I can be very open and honest in telling you I have not always been the best at business. Not ever for a lack of trying.
I have always given this 200% most days, holidays, birthdays, I have given them all up for clients. The last few years I have learned how to do it a little better, a lot better actually. Not without the occasional trip and fall but always working on being better. I have always wanted to give my very best to every single client I have. Over the years I have lost a few because the trip and fall was more like a roll down a large hill, but never did I stop trying to be better. To be better at business, to be better at communication, to try harder than I did the day before.
I can not make excuses for my past or my faults. I can openly say that I am at my absolute best in business I have been. I know my limits, accept my short comings and vow to never go back. This journey had been amazing, difficult, enlightening, hard, powerful and overall freeing. I am able to, everyday, create images for people. Sometimes it’s only a headshot to better their business, other days it’s capturing one of the most special days in their life. I will always be humbled to be a witness to these most amazing of days. Thank you to all of you that have stuck by me, that have continued to believe in me…be my cheerleaders and many of you my now dear friends. Today I am trying to rock it like never before. Thank you for letting me do just that. Thank you a thousand times over.
(A special thank you to one of my best friends Pamela Nicole of Pamela Nicole Photography. If she had not been so stubborn about figuring out the blog design I wanted, it would still be a line on my to-do list. I love you and owe you a lot of wine for this one. Your friendship is the best thing that has ever come out of photography for me.)
I wish I could pick one image to close out this post (after all it is a photography blog right?) but I don’t have one. The year has been incredible, the journey is ever changing. I will close with an image of my boys. Because everyone loves a good nose-picking photo.
